JAMMU: After the successful Chandrayaan-3 mission and the opening of the space sector by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy, and Space, declared today that “sky is not the limit” for India’s space journey. ‘Campus Dialogue’ on Chandrayaan 3 with the theme ‘Viksit Bharat @2047’ was being held at the Central University of Jammu today, and Dr. Jitendra Singh was giving the opening keynote talk.Dr. Jitendra Singh stated during interactions with academics and students that PM Narendra Modi’s courageous decision to free the space sector from historical restraints was the only thing that had allowed India to make the quantum leap it has in space research and reach a $8 billion space economy. According to the Arthur D. Little Report, India’s space economy has the potential to surpass $100 billion by 2040, which would represent a tremendous increase. The country’s space industry is expected to rise above $40 billion by 2040.Dr. Jitendra Singh commented on the success of the G20 Summit and Chandrayaan-3 Mission by saying that India has caught up to nations like the United States, which started their space programme decades before us. The Minister asserted that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led administration has established a supporting ecosystem, claiming that India has taken a quantum leap in its space exploration during the past nine years. He continued by saying that the space industry has been opened to public and commercial engagement, and the number of Space StartUps has been rising quickly.The Government of India has launched a project to establish Space Technology Teaching Centres at higher education institutions, according to Dr. Jitendra Singh. The Minister noted the Central University of Jammu’s ISRO Teaching Centre in this context. He revealed that NIT, Agartala in the Northeast, has also established a similar centre. In outlining the key components of the National Education Policy 2020, Dr. Jitendra Singh claimed that Indian students are no longer “prisoners of their aspiration” because the Policy now gives them the freedom to select or switch disciplines based on their aptitude, ability, interest, and other variables. Among those who spoke at the event were Prof. B.N. Tripathi, Vice Chancellor of SKUAST, Jammu, and Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor of Central University of Jammu.
