Anti-corruption court grants bail to DySP Adil

SRINAGAR:

Adil Mushtaq Sheikh, a suspended DySP, was granted an interim release on Saturday by a local court in Srinagar in relation to a case that had been filed against him at the Nowgam police station.

Suspended DySp Adil Mushtaq Sheikh, who was detained on suspicion of corruption, extortion, and fraud, was given an interim bail from today, October 14, 2023, to tomorrow, October 21, 2023, by the Court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption Srinagar.

Farooq Ahmad Kathwari, the accused’s attorney, said that interim bail had been granted with a guarantee of 50,000 rupees.

According to the police, Adil Mushtaq was detained in connection with FIR No. 149/2023, which also cited sections 167, 193, 201, 210, 218, and 221 of the IPC.Adil Mushtaq was suspended few days after his detention. “In terms of Rule 31(2) of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Classification Control Appeal) Rules, 1956, Adil Mushtaq, Deputy Superintendent of Police, PID No KPS155772, shall be deemed to have been placed under suspension with effect from September 21, 2023 i.e., the date of arrest of the Officer in case FIR No.149/2023 under sections 7, 7A of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and section 167, 193, 201, 210, 218, 221 of IPC in Police Station Nowgam,” Raj Kumar Goyal, the Additional Chief Secretary
