JAMMU: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President Nitin Nabin was accorded a traditional welcome at the historic Shri Raghunath Ji Temple in Jammu by former Minister and senior BJP leader M.K. Ajatshatru Singh and Dr. Ritu Singh amidst Vedic chants and devotional hymns.
Nitin Nabin was accompanied by Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, Member of Parliament Tarun Chugh, BJP Jammu and Kashmir President Sat Sharma, MLA Yudhvir Sethi, former Minister Priya Sethi, senior party leaders and other dignitaries.
During the visit, the BJP National President performed Shivling Abhishek at the revered Narmdeshwar Temple within the temple complex and offered prayers at the sanctum sanctorum of Shri Raghunath Ji Temple, seeking peace, prosperity, harmony and the well-being of the nation.
On the occasion, M.K. Ajatshatru Singh briefed Nitin Nabin about the historical, cultural and spiritual legacy of Shri Raghunath Ji Temple. He said the erstwhile Maharajas of Jammu and Kashmir had built more than 100 temples across the region to preserve and promote Sanatan heritage. These temples, he added, are managed by the Dharmarth Trust, established by the erstwhile Royal Family of Jammu and Kashmir, which continues to safeguard the region’s religious and cultural heritage.
Ajatshatru Singh said the Trust has remained committed to preserving these ancient temples while ensuring that devotees continue to benefit from the spiritual traditions and cultural values associated with them.
Later, Nitin Nabin interacted with members of the Nari Shakti of Shri Raghunath Ji Jammu Maha Aarti Sanstha. Renowned singer Sonali Dogra also presented Sanskrit shlokas during the programme.
Dr. Ritu Singh, Chairperson of the Jammu Aarti Sanstha, thanked the BJP National President for acknowledging the contribution of Maharaja Gulab Singh and appreciating the rich spiritual and cultural heritage of Shri Raghunath Ji Temple. She said the temple remains a major centre of faith and religious tourism, benefiting local traders, hoteliers, shopkeepers and others associated with the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.
Highlighting the growing role of women in preserving India’s cultural traditions, Dr. Ritu Singh praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to women empowerment and said the Jammu Aarti Sanstha, led by Nari Shakti, has become a symbol of women’s participation in promoting the region’s spiritual heritage. She appealed to the BJP leadership to support the initiative, which showcases Jammu’s cultural identity while strengthening the spirit of service during the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.
Nitin Nabin appreciated the efforts of M.K. Ajatshatru Singh and Dr. Ritu Singh in preserving Jammu’s ancient religious traditions and promoting the city as the spiritual gateway to the Himalayas.
