Cabinet approves establishing autonomous ‘Mera Yuva Bharat’, programme

NEW DELHI: The creation of the autonomous organisation Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), which would act as general enabling framework for youth development and youth-led development, was approved by the Union Cabinet on Wednesday. It aims to give youngsters fair access to the opportunities they need to realise their goals and create “Viksit Bharat” in all facets of the government. Anurag Thakurthe Minister of Information and Broadcasting, said at press conference following the union cabinet meeting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with medal winners and athletes on Tuesday who had returned from the Asian Games, giving India its highest medal total in the continental competition.“It has been decided to form an institution called MY Bharat Mera Yuva Bhara,” he stated. The minister stated that the main goal of Mera Yuva Bharat is to turn it into platform for youth development that is used by the entire government. According to the new system, youth would serve as the “Yuva Setu” between the government and the people, enabling them to become community change agents and nation builders. “It seeks to harness the immense youth energy for nation-building,” Thakur stated. In accordance with the National Youth Policy’s concept of “Youth,” Mera Yuva Bharat will be beneficial to young people between the ages of 15 and 29. Beneficiaries of programming elements designed exclusively for teenagers will fall between the age range of 10 to 19 years.
