RAMBAN, June 10: The busy Jammu-Srinagar National Highway shall remain closed during night hours for urgent repair works in Ramban sector from June 12 to 17.
Official sources said that the District administration Ramban has ordered a temporary night-time closure of a stretch of National Highway-44 at Nachlana to facilitate relaying works.
According to an order issued by the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Ramban, the decision was taken following a request from the Project Director, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), PIU Ramban.
In view of the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, the NHAI has proposed undertaking bituminous relaying works at several locations, including the critical stretch at Nachlana, to improve the condition of the highway and ensure smoother traffic movement.
As per the order, the highway stretch at the identified locations will remain closed during night hours on June 12/13, June 14/15 and June 16/17, 2026. The closure will be enforced from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM on each of these nights.
The administration has directed the Project Director, NHAI, Ramban, to complete the work within the stipulated time frame and to ensure that adequate safety measures, including installation of caution boards and barricading, are put in place at the work sites.
The Senior Superintendent of Police, Ramban, and the SSP, Traffic National Highway -44, have been instructed to implement the order in letter and spirit and to make necessary arrangements for traffic regulation during the specified hours.
