KATRA: Continuing its crackdown under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Reasi Police arrested a suspected drug peddler during a naka checking operation on the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi (SMVD) track.
Acting under the supervision of SSP Reasi, Mukund Tibrewal (IPS), a police team from Police Post Banganga established a special naka for frisking and checking. At around 7:30 PM, the naka party apprehended one individual identified as Ravi Singh, son of Jameer Singh, a resident of Panasa in Tehsil Thakrakote, District Reasi.
During personal search, police recovered heroin (commonly known as chitta) from his possession. The accused was immediately taken into custody, and the contraband was seized following due legal procedures.
A case under FIR No. 113/2026 has been registered at Police Station Katra under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of SHO Police Station Katra, Inspector Ranjeet Singh Rao, with close oversight from SDPO Katra, Dr. Bhishm Dubey (JKPS), and SP Katra, Kameshwar Puri (JKPS).
Reasi Police reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating drug abuse and urged citizens to cooperate by sharing information related to drug trafficking and substance abuse in their areas.
