JAMMU: Dr. Devansh Yadav, Commissioner of the Jammu Municipal Corporation, on Wednesday conducted an extensive inspection tour of several areas across the city to assess civic issues faced by residents.The visit covered Wards 26, 39, and 66, including localities such as Top Sherkhania, Subash Nagar, Suryavanshi Nagar, Lower Roopnagar, and Muthi. During the tour, the Commissioner interacted with residents to take firsthand feedback on their concerns.
Residents highlighted a range of pressing issues, including the need for improved drinking water supply, repair and maintenance of drainage systems to prevent waterlogging, and black-topping of damaged roads. They also stressed the importance of tiling work in inner lanes to improve accessibility and overall cleanliness.Concerns related to sanitation and non-functional streetlights were also raised, with locals pointing out safety risks, particularly during night hours.
Taking immediate note of the grievances, Dr. Yadav issued on-the-spot directions to concerned officials. Dr. Vinod Sharma was directed to intensify sanitation measures and ensure regular monitoring of sanitary workers to maintain accountability.
Officials from the electrical wing were instructed to conduct a comprehensive survey of streetlights and ensure prompt repair or replacement of faulty units. The engineering departments were also directed to assess requirements for drainage improvement, road repairs, and lane tiling, and initiate necessary work without delay.
Reaffirming the commitment of the civic body, Dr. Yadav assured residents that all genuine demands would be addressed on priority within a defined timeframe. He emphasised the need for coordinated efforts among various departments to deliver visible improvements on the ground.
He further noted that such field visits are part of the Corporation’s ongoing initiative to directly engage with citizens, understand their issues, and implement need-based solutions in a transparent and efficient manner.
The visit reflects the proactive approach of the Jammu Municipal Corporation towards strengthening urban infrastructure and improving the quality of life for residents.
