SRINAGAR: On Monday, Jammu and Kashmir Police objected to a video report that claimed DySP Adil Mushtaq was engaged in the Kokernag encounter and called it “inside betrayal”. “It has come to our attention that a video news item supposedly from the news organisation Bharat TAK has been uploaded, indicating that DySP Adil Mushtaq is implicated in the Kokernag terror incident as a result of insider betrayal. This video news is untrue, according to ADGP Kashmir’s post on X. He said that DySP Adil Mushtaq was under investigation in the Srinagar district, not in Anantnag, for a completely unrelated case. Relevantly, DySP Adil Mushtaq, who had previously been detained on suspicion of corruption, was suspended on Sunday. According to ADGP Kashmir, “This kind of irresponsible journalism is also an act of criminal misconduct and is subject to legal action.” In the gunfight in Kokernag earlier this month, two army officials, a soldier, and a DySP of the Jammu and Kashmir Police were all murdered.
