Shopian, Nov 27: In a major crackdown, Shopian Police on Thursday morning launched a series of coordinated search operations across multiple locations in the district, targeting individuals and premises believed to be associated with the banned organisation Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI), which remains proscribed under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
An official said, the searches are being carried out simultaneously at several sites based on actionable intelligence inputs regarding suspected links, activities, and financial or logistical support networks connected to the banned outfit.
Senior police officers are supervising the ongoing operations, which are aimed at tightening surveillance and ensuring strict enforcement of the UAPA ban across the region.
Further details are awaited.
