A day after bandh, 3.5 lakh vehicles choke Bengaluru’s Outer Ring Road leading to massive traffic congestion

BENGALURU: After severe traffic jam were reported in numerous areas of the city on Wednesday, a day after the Bengaluru bandh made the roadways free of traffic on Tuesday, the city was back to normal. On Wednesday, there was record-breaking gridlock along the notorious Outer Ring Road (ORR) stretch and in the nearby neighbourhoods, which include important IT parks and roughly 10 lakh IT workers. The Bengaluru traffic police agency claims that a number of causes contributed to the area’s traffic congestion. Wednesday had twice as much traffic as a typical day. On Wednesdays, there are often 1.5 lakh to 2 lakh vehicles.On September 27, however, the number of vehicles had risen to staggering 3.5 lakh as of 7:30 pm. The traffic agency claimed that this was result of yesterday’s bandh, during which many workers showed up for work on Wednesday and attempted to leave at the same time in the evening. The forthcoming holiday weekend is one of the other factors contributing to the traffic jams. Karnataka bandh is observed on Friday, whereas Id-milad is observed on Thursday. In addition to being weekends on Saturday and Sunday, Gandhi Jayanti, which is marked on Monday, is public holiday. The ORR and adjacent areas’ people were all leaving Bengaluru along the same road, according to the traffic police department, which caused slow vehicular flow.Additionally, heavy rains have flooded number of inner routes, and between 3:30 and PM, numerous car failures were reported, causing backups in traffic. The Outer Ring Road Companies Association, which represents businesses between Central Silk Board Junction and KR Puram, also issued notice to its member businesses, advising them to advise their staff to extend their exit time in order to escape the ORR’s traffic jams.
