CEO SMVDSB Reviews Yatra Preparedness Ahead of Shardiya Navratra

KATRA: To ensure a smooth and seamless pilgrimage during the upcoming Shardiya Navratras (September 22 – October 1, 2025), Sachin Kumar Vaishya, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB), chaired a joint review meeting today at the Spiritual Growth Centre, Katra.

The meeting was attended by senior officers from SMVDSB, security agencies, district administration, Army, CRPF, Fire & Emergency Services, and allied departments.

The CEO underscored that with Navratras approaching, a considerable influx of devotees is expected at the Holy Shrine and base camp Katra, and called for complete synergy among all stakeholders.

He stressed on disaster management preparedness, including fire-fighting arrangements, simulation exercises, and joint deployment of SDRF personnel with SMVDSB’s Disaster Management Task Force for crowd management in vulnerable areas.

He directed installation of additional signages along the track, public announcements, joint beat monitoring, and designation of holding areas to manage pilgrim flow. Emphasis was laid on readiness of rescue tools, gas cutters, and wireless communication systems, along with effective utilization of the Integrated Command and Control Centre for real-time monitoring.

Reiterating that pilgrims must carry valid RFID cards, the CEO said additional handheld scanners and staff will be deployed for enforcement. Verification of Pithoo and Ponywalla credentials was also stressed to prevent impersonation and ensure authorized services.

Further directions were issued regarding vehicular regulation, sanitation, drinking water, illumination of dark spots, and identification of additional holding areas in Katra to accommodate pilgrims during possible yatra suspension due to inclement weather.

On the security front, SSP Reasi and Commandant CRPF presented a detailed multi-tier grid comprising Police, CRPF, paramilitary forces, and QRTs (Quick Response Teams) for ensuring foolproof arrangements during Navratras.

The CEO concluded by urging all departments to carry out physical and systemic improvements after critical review, assuring that all efforts are being made to provide a safe, smooth, and spiritually fulfilling pilgrimage experience to the devotees.
