Reasi Police Busts Heroin Peddling Module, 4 Arrested with 22 Grams of Narcotics

KATRA: In a major success against drug smuggling, Reasi Police on Tuesday arrested four persons and recovered 22 grams of heroin from their possession during routine naka checking at PCP Sool Kakryal.

A police team led by PSI Akhilesh Khajuria, I/C PP Kakryal, intercepted a silver Santro car (DL7C/1800) coming from Manthal towards Katra. The vehicle was driven by Vikas Sharma of Katra, accompanied by Amit Sharma (Dansal), Babloo Sharma (Akhnoor/Katra), and Amit Kumar (Katra). On frisking, heroin was recovered and seized on the spot.

A case FIR No. 251/2025 U/S 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Katra, and all four accused were taken into custody.

Police said that three of the arrested are notorious repeat offenders with multiple criminal involvements in cases ranging from Arms Act violations to attempt to murder and other grave offences.

The operation was conducted under the leadership of SHO P/S Katra Insp. Khyatimaan Khajuria, supervised by SDPO Katra Dr. Bhishm Dubey, JKPS, and SP Katra Vipan Chandran, JKPS, under the overall command of SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh, JKPS.

Police have intensified their drive against drug peddlers in the district. Authorities appealed to the public to share information about narcotics smuggling, assuring that the identity of informers will be kept confidential.
