Widespread Rain Expected In J&K Over Next 60 Hours: Weatherman

Srinagar, Sep 2: The weatherman on Tuesday predicted a widespread spell of rain across Jammu and Kashmir over the next 60 hours.
Independent weather forecaster Faizan Arif said that “Parts of the Jammu region are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall, though occasional breaks may occur.”
“Water levels in rivers and streams are expected to rise significantly, with some areas potentially crossing flood alarm levels,” Faizan said.
“In the Kashmir region, rainfall is expected as well, but with lower intensity compared to Jammu. However, certain areas, particularly over the Pir Panjal mountains and higher reaches of Kulgam, Shopian, and Anantnag, may witness heavy showers,” he said.
“The water level of the Jhelum river is also expected to rise noticeably during this period,” Faizan added.
The forecaster cautioned that thunderstorms with gusty winds may occur at times in some locations. Flash floods and cloudbursts cannot be ruled out, while streams and rivers across both regions may swell. Mountain passes are likely to remain vulnerable to landslides and falling stones.
Residents and travelers have been advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions during this period of intense rainfall.
