JAMMU: Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Dr. Devansh Yadav, today conducted an extensive tour of several flood-affected wards to assess damages caused by continuous heavy rains over the past two days.
The torrential downpour has severely impacted low-lying areas, disrupting daily life and leaving households inundated with floodwater and debris.
Dr. Yadav visited Rajendra Nagar, Canal Head, Peerkhu Temple area, Rajiv Nagar University area, and Gujjar Nagar near the Tawi River, where he interacted with residents, heard their concerns, and assured them of prompt restoration of civic amenities.
Acknowledging the urgency, the Commissioner directed JMC teams to complete cleaning and restoration within the next 48 hours, ensuring that no household is left unattended. Additional manpower, earthmovers, suction machines, and dumpers have been deployed, with sanitation workers mobilized on a war footing to clear debris, unclog drains, and restore basic services.

The JMC continues to closely monitor the situation, coordinating with other departments for effective relief and urging citizens to remain vigilant during the ongoing monsoon period.
