SRINAGAR, Sep 21: A Jammu and Kashmir Police officer with the DySP rank was detained by Srinagar Police on Thursday for a number of reasons. On Tuesday, a group of Srinagar police officers searched the home of a DySP known as Sheikh Aadil Mushtaq (KPS) close to the BSNL Sanathnagar Srinagar exchange. Several electronic gadgets, including a laptop, were seized, and the officer was questioned about a case, if sources are to be believed. The officer was formally detained on Thursday by Srinagar police under FIR no. 149 of 2023 for violating sections 167, 193, 201, 210, 218, and 221 of the Indian Penal Code and section 7 A of the Corruption Act. A subsequent inquiry has since been launched.
