Gataru Murder Case: Nowabad Police Gets 5-Day Remand Of 5 Gangsters

JAMMU: Chief Judicial Magistrate Preet Simran K. Grover on Tuesday granted five-day police remand of Harsh Singh, son of Ramesh Singh, resident of H.No. 38, Bikram Chowk, Jammu, Arun Kumar, son of Rajesh Kumar, resident of H.No. 70, Bikram Chowk, Jammu, Abhay Singh alias Hul, son of Karan Singh, resident of H.No. 496, Nai Basti, Jammu, Ajay Kumar, son of Rajesh Kumar, resident of H.No. 70, Bikram Chowk, Jammu and Raj, son of Uttam Kumar, resident of H.No. G-93, Old Seemapuri, Delhi who are allegedly involved in Sumit Jandiyal alias Gataru Murder case.The incident took place on January 21, when the armed men opened fire on Sumit Jandiyal traveling in his Thar vehicle near Jewel Chowk in Jammu City.
Today, these five accused were produced in court by Investigating Officer Deepak Pathania SHO Nowabad in connection with FIR 14/2025 registered for offences under section 103, 3(5), 49, 249 BNS, 3/25 Arms Act alongwith case diary with a prayer for grant of further seven days of police remand in respect of accused persons.
CJM Jammu Preet Simran K Grover after perusal of the case diary which reveals that accused persons were apprehended on February 1, 2025 by team of Police Station Nowabad with the help of team of Crime Branch, Delhi. Then the IO of the case proceeded to Delhi and obtained two days transit remand upto February 4, 2025.
CJM Jammu Preet Simran K. Grover observed that accused have been arrested and offence involved in the case are non-bailable in nature. Investigation is at initial stage. Medical examination reports of all the accused have also been produced. As a case for grant of police remand as prayed is therefore made out accordingly and these accused are remanded to police custody for a period of five days from today till February 8, 2025.
It is directed that the accused shall be medically examined before taken into police custody and thereafter they shall be medically examined after every 48 hours. CD file after perusal is returned to the investigating officer in the open court. The accused shall be produced before the competent Magistrate for further orders before the expiry of the remand period.
