NC holds shikara rally in Dal Lake ahead of 2nd phase in J&K

SRINAGAR: The NC led by party leader Omar on Monday held a shikara rally in the Dal Lake as part of its election campaign for the second phase of polls in J&K. Abdullah, holding the red-and-white flag of the NC, led the shikara rally through the interiors of the lake as he canvassed for support for his party candidate Tanvir Sadiq from the Zadibal Assembly segment in Srinagar. On Sep 25, there will be second-phase voting in six districts, including Zadibal, which has 26 assembly segments. Hundreds of shikaras skimmed the lake’s surface while NC labourers and supporters yelled praise for their leader. “The enthusiasm and spirit we have seen during the campaign in the second phase, we want to see the same enthusiasm on the polling day and translate into results,” Abdullah told reporters during the event. The former chief minister described the Shikara rally as exceptional, stating that “such lakes and beauty are also rare to see in the world.” The fact that we get to live here is blessing.
But even in the middle of all this beauty, there are issues and sorrows. And we have showcased portion of this beauty during this election campaign. However, the people are furious with what they have endured over the last six to ten years. Voting will be used to express it, even though you can’t see it now,” he remarked.
