KATHUA: The principal and teachers of Government Higher Secondary School, Bani in the Kathua district brutally assaulted a student in the 10th grade for writing the name of Jai Sri Ram on the classroom’s blackboard. The young person who suffered severe injuries has been admitted to the Bani Sub District Hospital.The injured student was shifted to hospital by other students in injured condition. But neither school administration nor any other teacher bothered to shift him to hospital. The parents of the student said that the Principal beat the minor student in his room and he received grievous injuries. The family members also reached the hospital to see the condition of their child. He was identified as Neeraj Kumar of Bani which is 200 km from district headquarter, Kathua After getting the information of mercilessly beating of 10th Class youth, Neeraj Kumar by school teacher Farooq Ahmed and Principal, Mohammad Hafeez, the tension sparked in Bani town, students boycotted classes and took out protest march in the town. Members of the BJP and Congress parties, as well as former legislator Bani Jeevan Lal, supported the protest. They protested at the Bani Mela Ground and demanded the immediate dismissal of the principal and teacher who had caused trouble in the classroom and assaulted a student for writing the name of Lord Ram on the blackboard. The former MLA for Bani, Jeevan Lal, denounced the behaviour of the principal and teachers and requested that they be disciplined severely. He claimed that both towns’ residents enjoy a calm environment. However, a few antisocial characters are dividing the two communities.But because to the sensitive nature of the situation, Deputy Commissioner of Kathua Rakesh Minhas has ordered an investigation and formed a panel including the CEO of Kathua and the Principal Government HSS of Kharote as members to present a report within two days. On Kuldeep Singh’s allegation, a FIR was also filed at Police Station, Bani, against Principal Mohammad Hafeez and Lecturer Farooq Ahmed under FIR NO 51/2023, under Sections 323, 342, 504,506 and Juvenile Justice Act 75. The police opened an investigation into the situation as well.
