JAMMU: With the arrest of three people, a gang of bike lifters was busted in Akhnoor area, police said. They said property worth several lakhs was also recovered from the possession of the arrested criminals. A police spokesperson said that on April 22, 2024, a complaint was lodged at Police Station Akhnoor by one Ram Dass son of Lal Chand regarding theft of his Splender motorcycle. On this, he said, a case FIR number 70/2024 under Section 379 of the IPC was registered at Police Station Akhnoor and investigation taken up. During investigation, the police spokesperson said that a special police team constituted by SDPO Mohan Sharma analysed the CCTV footage and studied the pattern of few suspects. After obtaining certain leads, he said, three suspects Amit Pawa alias Sundi, Rakesh Choudhary alias Nathu and Sunny Kumar alias Sunny Pagal, all residents of Devipur, Jourian, Jammu, were arrested for questioning. During sustained questioning, all the accused confessed to their involvement in the crime, he added. The police spokesperson said that on the disclosure of the accused, the stolen motorcycle, along with five other motorcycles worth several lakhs was recovered by a team comprising SHO Akhnoor Tariq Ahmed, Choki Incharge Jourian, Sanjeet Singh, Chowki Incharge Chowki Choura, Pankaj Katoch, and PSI Karnail Singh. Besides the stolen motorcycles, police have also recovered gas cylinders, mattresses, containers, transformer, gas stove etc. Pertinently, all the arrests and recoveries were made by the police teams under the overall supervision of SP Rural Brijesh Sharma.
