DRAS: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday said India is ready to cross the LoC to maintain its honour and dignity, and called upon civilians to be ready to support the soldiers in such a situation. He used the Russia-Ukraine conflict as an example, claiming that it has lasted for more than a year because citizens have stepped up and joined the fighting. On the occasion of the 24th Kargil Vijay Diwas, Singh was addressing at the Kargil War Memorial in this location. He had previously lay a wreath at the memorial to honour the soldiers who lost their lives in the Kargil conflict of 1999. The Kargil conflict, according to Singh, was forced upon India. “Pakistan betrayed us; India was forced into the war,” said the victim. He stated, “I applaud our courageous boys who put the country first and gave their life. The minister said, “Our public has always backed the soldiers in times of war, but that support has been indirect. ”We can go to any extreme to defend the honour and dignity of the country… if that entails crossing the LoC, we are ready to do that,” he said. I implore the public to be prepared to help the soldiers directly in the battlefield if necessary. In 1999, Pakistani soldiers had secretly taken over significant heights in Ladakh, and the Indian Army had mounted a strong counterattack to drive them back. India celebrates Kargil Vijay Diwas to commemorate its triumph over Pakistan.
