4 Tihar Jail Officers Suspended A Day After Life Convict Yasin Malik Walks Into SC To Argue His Case

NEW DELHI: The Tihar administrator suspended four employees on Saturday, a day after the SC expressed worry about JKLF leader and terror-funding case convict Yasin Malik‘s physical attendance in court. The staff members who have been suspended include one head warden, two assistant superintendents, and one deputy superintendent. After Kashmiri separatist Yasin Malik appeared in court on Friday, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta called attention to a “serious lapse” in the security of the Supreme Court. Mehta wrote to Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, stating that the security of the Supreme Court was compromised by the jail authorities who brought Yasin Malik.”I firmly believe that there was a severe security breach here. Yasin Malik, who has ties to Pakistani terrorist organisations and a history of terrorism and secessionism and who was convicted in a case involving the sponsorship of terrorism, among other things, “could have escaped, been taken away forcibly, or been killed,” Mehta said. The court had previously expressed its displeasure with Yasin Malik’s Friday morning attendance.Justice Dutta is unable to hear this petition, a bench of Justices Surya Kant and Dipankar Dutta said as soon as the hearing began.” Tushar Mehta emphasised that Yasin Malik is the subject of an order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs pursuant to Section 268 of the Criminal Procedure Code, which forbids the jail staff from removing the aforementioned offender from the jail grounds.
