JAMMU: Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar presented awards to Veer Naris and Decorated Veterans at the Jain community’s “Eak Sham Sainik Ke Naam” function at Jain Nagar (Talab Tillo). Together with well-known individuals, non-governmental organisations, and Jain community members, decorated soldiers and Veer Naris were invited to honour the occasion. The program’s goal was to instill a sense of nationalism by telling the tales of our gallant troops’ sacrifices. The custom of lighting the lamp signalled the beginning of the programme. Brig Harcharan Singh, National Administrator, NCCHWO, gave an explanation of the “Eak Sham Sainik Ke Naam” program’s philosophy. He told the tales of their valour and introduced the soldiers and Veer Naris who were present for the event. Veer Naris has been adopted by numerous NGOs in J&K under Project NAMAN in an effort to connect the community with Veer Naris’s family. Brig Harcharan Singh expressed gratitude for the work of the Aditi Foundation (Pankaja), Rotary Elite (President Jyoti Vaid), IWC Jammu Tawi (President Gurvinder Kaur), and SS Jain Sabha Talab Tillo (President Giat Jain). Members of Jain Mahila Mandal, Talab Tillo, performed a variety of patriotic songs and acts. Divisional Commissioner Jammu then honoured our valiant warriors, Cols. VK Sahi, RK Sharma, Capt. Mohd Sadiq, and Capt. Ghar Singh. With joy and raucous cheers, Savita Devi, Reena Kaur, Rajni, and Nirmala Kumari were honoured as Veer Naris.
