Jammu, July 19 : officials and reports said on Wednesday, 3 persons died and 2 others are feared dead after 2 houses collapsed following heavy rains in Bani area of Kathua district.According to them, torrential rain caused two homes owned by Mushtaq Ahmed and Abdul Qayum in Bani’s Surjan Morha Aruad Block to collapse. Five people, including children, were buried beneath these houses, and thus far, rescuers, including police and local volunteers, have only found the bodies of three of them, including Mohammad Arif, the son of Abdul Qayum.An extensive rescue effort was in progress, according to SSP Kathua Shivdeep Singh Jamwal, who also verified that the dead had been recovered from the rubble. Two more people, he claimed, are also thought to be dead.
Authorities later stated that Naseema Begum, Mohammad Rafiq’s wife of Mandhota Tehsil Bani, had died after being hit by a landslip. They said that her body had been located.
Additionally, they said that the body of seventh-grade student Ajay Singh, the son of the late Mohiner Singh of Sitti Tehsil, was found in the rubble of another landslip in Bani close to his home.Additionally, they added that one person, Sham Lal son of Tara Chand of Bhullari Tehsil of Bani, was buried as a result of soil sliding and a search operation is currently underway.
According to SDM Bani Satish Kumar, teams of rescuers and officials have been dispatched because there have been reports of flash floods and landslides in various places.
