Baharampur (WB), Feb 2: Senior Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said that the “Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra” led by Rahul Gandhi resumed on Friday in Nabagram, West Bengal’s Murshidabad. The district administration had requested that the party postpone the walk because of the class 10 state board test. The Yatra began at roughly 10.30 am from Nabagram and was slated to restart at 8 am from Gokarna in Murshidabad. The MP for Baharampur, Chowdhury, claimed that authorization to conduct the Yatra in the nearby Birbhum district—through which it is expected to transit on its way into Pakur, Jharkhand—was denied. He claimed that while the West Bengal Secondary Education Board’s class 10 examinations are being held all over the state, the district of Murshidabad was not given permission to host a roadshow. Chowdhury told reporters, “I do not understand what is the problem if we peacefully conduct our Yatra after the examinees enter the centres.” Gandhi set out on the Yatra in a red SUV from Nabagram, in the same district, and there weren’t many other cars there. The MP from Baharampur declared that the Yatra will not use loudspeakers. He assured the examinees that they wouldn’t be bothered, saying, “We have requested the administration to allow Rahul Gandhi’s vehicle and a few cars accompanying his vehicle.” According to Chowdhury, the Congress will not fight the administration. “Our goal is to peacefully bid farewell to Rahul Gandhi from West Bengal,” he continued.
