JAMMU: The crime profile of a zone or area is determined by the rate and quality of disposal of crimes. DGP RR Swain made this statement while presiding over the Jammu Zone’s monthly crime review meeting in the ZPHQ Conference Hall. The DGP underlined throughout the conference the importance of creating a thorough criminal database and improving the effectiveness of crime disposal. Additionally, he talked about how important it is to enhance investigations, with an emphasis on NDPS and incidents involving the smuggling of cows. Swain, the chief police official, emphasised the transient nature of criminals and anti-social elements and urged cops to find fresh suspects and motives while responding appropriately. He underlined again how crucial it is to keep an accurate criminal history and crime record, adding that having a strong database will facilitate investigations and the analytical use of data. Speaking about the drug trade, which is considered to be very harmful, the DGP emphasised that it funds terrorist activities. He demanded that law enforcement take decisive, methodical action against individuals engaged in the NDPS trade and promoted the creation of an extensive database of drug dealers and users. The directive entailed indexing drivers and cars connected to drug transportation and compiling a “master list” of vehicles that committed offences regularly. Due of its link to other illegal operations, strict action against bovine traffickers was also stressed. The DGP ordered that car owners who engaged in this kind of trading on a regular basis should be held accountable.Officers agreed that defining specific objectives and putting successful techniques into practice will help reduce the crime rate. The DGP recognised the top police station and district and announced incentives for outstanding performance in investigations, which was a motivational step.
