RAJOURI: Security forces on Friday morning recovered a consignment of narcotic substance during an operation launched on the Loc in Jhangar area of Nowshera sub division in the district.On the basis of a particular intelligence input, the operation was jointly carried out by the Jammu and Kashmir police, Indian Army, and BSF. Amritpal Singh, a senior superintendent of police in Rajouri, revealed to Jammu Links News that an operation was started in the LoC area of Jhangar in the Nowshera sector as a result of certain specific intelligence input. Police, a local army unit, and BSF took out this operation, during which the area was sealed off and thorough searches were carried out. Five packets of drugs totaling 8 kg and 960 grammes were discovered during this investigation, according to SSP Rajouri, and they have been seized and put into custody. In the Nowshera police station, the police have filed a case under FIR 171/2023 U/Ss 8/21/22 NDPS Act, and further investigation is ongoing. According to Singh, the matter is currently the subject of an inquiry and the relevant legal procedures. He claimed that the discovery of such a large amount of drugs on the Line of Control points to a potential attempt at cross-line smuggling that was ultimately unsuccessful.
