JAMMU, Oct 7: =According to the Railway Police, they have detained three interstate thieves for their role in the theft of gold and silver jewellery worth Rs. 1.70 lakh from a passenger train in Jammu. According to a police spokesperson, on October 10, 2022, a woman went to Police Station GRP Jammu and said that on Platform Number 1 of the Jammu Tawi Railway Station, unidentified burglars had taken her gold and silver items.According to him, a case FIR number 15/2022 under section 380 of the IPC was registered at Police Station GRP Jammu in response to the written complaint, and an investigation immediately began. He added that a number of individuals were questioned during the inquiry and that technical proof was gathered. In this regard, he noted that Albeena Malik, SDPO Railway Jammu, was in charge of the SIT, which had been established by SSP Railway Jammu Mohan Lal Kaith.According to the police spokeswoman, Inspector Madan Lal oversaw various searches that were carried out by the investigative teams in Haryana over the course of the inquiry. He claimed that three suspects were finally apprehended on October 3, 2023, confessed to their involvement in the crime, and upon their admission, the ornaments that had been stolen were found. Under the direction of Niaz Ahmed, SHO Police Station GRP Jammu, the Railway Police have recovered more than 200 grammes of gold jewellery totaling Rs 14.5 lakh during the past three months in FIRs 15/2022 and 15/2023.
