Jammu, Jan 25: According to officials, on Wednesday night, police in the Jammu region detained two people and charged six others for posting offensive content on social media with the intention of igniting conflict between two communities. According to a police spokesperson, Amit Sharma of Bajalta filed a complaint on behalf of the residents of the Jammu district’s village Khana Chargal, alleging that two people, Zaffar Hussain and Nusrat of Bajalta, posted offensive content on the social media site Instagram that could incite animosity between two communities.The two were taken into custody after a report was filed at the Nagrota police station. There is currently an ongoing investigation into the case. According to the spokeswoman, the police have filed complaints against five young people in the Ramban district who they believe posted offensive material on social media. Another person was also detained by the police for a disparaging post in the Kathua district. According to the police, cyber cells are closely monitoring all posts and comments on social media platforms and are keeping a close eye on them. According to the spokesperson, “tough measures will be taken against those who post anything that is provocative and spreads hatred.”
