SRINAGAR:Police reported on Saturday that ten young people had been detained on suspicion of disturbing the tranquilly outside the revered Jamia Masjid during the congregational prayers the previous day. 10 hooligans were detained for attempting to disturb the quiet outside the Jamia Masjid following Friday prayers. They will be charged in accordance with the appropriate law, the Srinagar Police stated in a post on X. Police pleaded with the people to refrain from such behaviour. According to sources, the young people were detained for sloganeering during Friday prayers at the large mosque. Following his release from more than four years of house detention, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, the leader of the Hurriyat Conference, left the great mosque after leading the congregational prayers and several teenagers yelled out slogans.
