JAMMU: Kavinder Gupta, a former deputy chief minister and prominent member of the BJP, has been threatened with legal action because of alleged remarks he made about the Yuva Rajput Sabha (YRS), which has stated that it will continue its agitation over the Sarore Toll Plaza issue. The Yuva Rajput Sabha’s president, Vikram Singh Vicky, said during a hastily convened press conference that the Sabha and the entire Dogra community rejected the alleged statement made by Kavinder Gupta in a social media video that has gone viral. In the video, Gupta is heard accusing the Yuva Rajput Sabha of staging unnecessary drama over the issue of Sarore Toll Plaza in order to raise money from various sources.”Kavinder’s purported statement amounts to playing with the sentiments of the entire Dogra community,” he claimed, adding that the controversial statement was in opposition to that of other BJP leaders, such as MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, Vice-President Sham Lal Sharma, Chander Parkash Ganga, and Surjit Singh Slathia, who had defended YRS’s actions regarding the Toll Plaza issue. In addition to stating that he will retire as the president of the Yuva Rajput Sabha if the accusation against him is confirmed, Vikram Singh threatened Kavinder Gupta with legal action if the latter does not recant his alleged statement and ask for an apology. “Rajputs along with the entire Dogra community will also gherao the residence of Kavinder Gupta and lodge a strong protest against him in the coming days,” he continued.Former YRS Presidents Rajn Singh Happy and Surinder Singh Gilli also spoke to the media and warned that the BJP risks losing ground and support from the Dogra community if it does not rein in individuals like Kavinder Gupta. Such unpleasant sentiments, according to YRS Chairman Raghuvir Singh and Founder Member Rajinder Singh, are utterly contrary to Jammu’s interests. These officials asserted that Yuva Rajput Sabha hasn’t stopped protesting and that they’ll pick up their campaign against the Toll Plaza by September 15. According to YRS Spokesperson Vishal Singh, “Yuva Rajput Sabha always stands for the rights and improvement of J&K and we will never play with the sentiments of our people.”YRS members Mohan Singh, Prem Singh, Ramesh Singh, Ranjeet Singh, Balbir Singh, Rajveer Singh, Sanjeev Singh, Mandeep Singh, Mukesh Singh, Rajesh Singh, Sandy Singh, Bhanu Pratap, Vikramjeet, Vikram Chib, Avtar Singh, Sanjay Singh, and Sumit Singh were also in attendance at the press conference.
