SRINAGAR: Iltija Mufti, the party’s candidate from Bijbehara in the current Assembly elections and Mehbooba Mufti’s media advisor, declared on Tuesday that she will “continue to expose propagandists who throw Muslims under the bus for cheap TRPs.” Mehbooba’s daughter Iltija has been actively campaigning for the party ever since the much anticipated J&K elections were announced. She was seen in a video criticising a private news outlet for “their anti-Muslim content” and declining to accept the microphone. The news agency’s editor then cited Mufti’s video and called her action “cheap.” The young lawmaker shot out at her, claiming, “Her media deliberately demonises and vilifies Muslims. easily omits and distorts news, adding gasoline to the flames and fostering Islamophobia. Iltija had said on her official X-handle, “Nothing against reporters who have to work, but what the agency does is criminal & needs to be called out.”
