NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi observed on Tuesday, while presiding over an event in the nation’s capital to commemorate “Veer Bal Divas,” how Indians were taking pride in their heritage and that the world now saw them differently. PM Modi advanced his vision of a new India by stating that the nation now has greater faith and confidence in its citizens’ potential, goals, and aspirations. “Veer Bal Diwas” represents and symbolises a national urge to safeguard and carry forward the idea of Bharatiyata, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, addressing the event to mark the martyrdom of the two sons of Sikh Guru Sri Gobind Singh.“This year, America, Britain, Australia, New Zealand, the UAE and Greece have organised programmes related to ‘Veer Bal Diwas’,” Modi stated. Union Home Minister Amit Shah recalled their unparalleled bravery and added that the sacrifice will continue to motivate future generations. “I bow to Mata Gujri Ji and the four Sahibzade of Guru Gobind Singh Ji on Veer Bal Diwas. The Home Minister praised them for their extraordinary bravery in defying the cruel Mughal rule and choosing martyrdom over conversion. On the occasion of Veer Bal Diwas, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami paid respects at the Tila Sahib Gurdwara in New Tehri. There will be a digital exhibit about the life and sacrifice of the Sahibzades on display in childcare centres and schools around the nation.‘Veer Baal Diwas’ will also be the subject of a nationwide film screening. The MYBharat and MyGov portals will host a number of online competitions, including interactive quiz shows. Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that December 26 would be observed annually as ‘Veer Bal Diwas’ to commemorate the martyrdom of his sons Sahibzadas Baba Zorawar Singh Ji and Baba Fateh Singh Ji on January 9, 2022, the day of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s Prakash Purab. The Sikh community around the globe expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for his “historical” Veer Bal Diwas celebrations.
