NEW DELHI, Sept 17: In an effort to promote organisational discipline and togetherness, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday urged party officials to put the party’s success ahead of personal issues and combat opponents with all their might in the upcoming state and Lok Sabha elections. On the second day of discussions, Kharge addressed the extended CWC meeting and stated that the party’s objective must be to defeat the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and earnestly work to build a rival administration in the nation. Kharge launched a harsh attack on the Modi administration, accusing it of engaging in political games and bringing up new crises to draw attention away from more pressing ones. “Recently, the Modi government established a committee on “One Nation, One Election” during the INDIA alliance meeting in Mumbai. It also included a previous President to further its objective, which is against all protocol, Kharge claimed. While the Lok Sabha elections are only six months away, he pointed out that five states have polls slated for the next two to three months. In addition, Kharge stated that the party needed to be ready for any potential assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. He asked politicians to promote these welfare programmes all throughout the nation, claiming that the Congress-led governments in Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan have “pioneered a new model of social justice and welfarism”. According to Kharge, the party’s successes in the elections for Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka are unequivocal evidence that voters are yearning for an alternative. We must put aside our personal hobbies and labour nonstop. Kharge emphasised to the assembled leaders that they needed to put aside their personal differences in order to put the party’s success first. He also highlighted that in order to prevent harm to the organization’s interests, leaders must display discipline and refrain from speaking negatively about their party or party members in front of the media. “Similarly, organisational cohesion is crucial. We can only defeat our enemies if we work together and exercise discipline. This was especially true in Karnataka, where we maintained our unity and fought with discipline to prevail. The Congress leader emphasised that “our goal must be to defeat the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and work tirelessly to form an alternative government in the country.” Kharge acknowledged that there might be difficulties in the future, but he also noted that these difficulties would affect the survival of Indian democracy and the maintenance of the Indian Constitution, not just the Congress. Are your committees at the Mandal, Block, and District levels ready? I would want to question the state presidents and legislative party leaders present. Are we providing them with ongoing programming? Have we begun to select potential candidates? At the meeting, Kharge stated.“Now is not the time to take a nap. The difficulties experienced by regular people have increased over the past ten years of BJP administration. The Congress leader charged that the prime minister, Narendra Modi, “refuses to address the concerns of the poor, farmers, labourers, women, and youth; instead, he cannot look beyond himself.” We cannot watch helplessly in such situations, he continued.Kharge pleaded for decision-makers to band together and topple “this dictatorial government” in order to preserve democracy. Kharge stated that the best way to honour Mahatma Gandhi would be to remove the BJP from office in 2024, which also happens to be the centenary of his election as the president of the Congress. “We shall leave Telangana with newfound vigour and a distinct message. We leave Hyderabad tonight with a clear vow to win not only the upcoming election in Telangana but also all future elections, freeing the populace from the suffering brought on by the BJP’s misrule, he said.
