NEW DELHI, Dec 16: Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, said on Saturday that the December 13 Parliament security breach was caused by increased costs and unemployment. After meeting with leaders of the Congress’ Gujarat unit in New Delhi to prepare for the poll, Gandhi told reporters that although there was a security breach in Parliament, young people were not getting jobs because of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s policies. “In Parliament, there has been a security breach. However, why did it occur?” he enquired. “The largest problem facing the nation is unemployment, which is raging throughout the entire nation. The youth of the nation are not finding work as a result of Modi ji’s policies, he claimed. On the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament terror attack, two men broke through security measures on Wednesday by jumping into the Lok Sabha chamber from the public gallery during Zero Hour. They shouted slogans and let off yellow smoke from canisters before being overpowered by the MPs. Gandhi added, “The breach has occurred (in Parliament), but the cause is price increases and unemployment.” Manoranjan D and Sagar Sharma were the two men who had leaped into the Lok Sabha’s chamber. Simultaneously, two other people, Amol Shinde and Neelam Devi, shouted “tanashahi nahi chalegi” outside the Parliament premises and let off coloured smoke from canisters. The fifth defendant, Lalit Jha, is accused of posting videos of the protest outside the complex on social media. Every single one of the five is in custody. The opposition has been pressuring the government for an explanation of the security breech and has called for Union Home Minister Amit Shah to address the matter in Parliament. In an effort to push for the demand, they have also been interfering with both Houses’ operations.
