JAMMU: Originating from one of the original villages on the Line of Control in the Uri area, Senior Cadet Captain Ulfat Khan has created history by being the first female cadet ever chosen to lead the Parade at the Prime Minister‘s Rally (PM Rally) at Republic Day Camp 2024, which will take place in New Delhi. This incredible accomplishment not only made the JK&L Directorate and the 1 J&K Naval Unit proud, but it also brought attention to the Govt College for Women Gandhinagar Jammu, where Ulfat is pursuing her BA Eng (Hons) in spite of all obstacles. Ulfat was chosen from 2, 274 NCC cadets who came from 17 Directorates across the country, 28 States, and Union Territories. Her remarkable journey from a distant origin to a national achiever is a monument to her undying perseverance and drive. Ulfat overcame several obstacles, such as geographical limitations, but her unwavering dedication to greatness helped her succeed. Ulfat Khan was born in the Baramulla district of Uri in 2002. She attended several Kendriya Vidyalayas in Delhi, Jharkhand, and Odisha to complete her education before enrolling in GCW Gandhinagar to further her studies. She developed her leadership skills at an impressive variety of NCC camps, such as CATC, NSC, SNIC, RDC, and Mini Sailing.Ulfat demonstrated her exceptional leadership abilities and commitment to service by winning the DG Commendation Medal Certificate and the esteemed title of Best Commander during the Republic Day Camp. Lieutenant Commander Ankur Kumar, the Commanding Officer of 1J&K Naval Unit NCC, said of Ulfat’s accomplishment that her commitment and tenacity made her stand out as an inspiration to cadets around the country. Her appointment as Platoon Commander is evidence of her dedication and hard work.
