KATHUA: 2 cars with same registration number were found plying on National Highway at Rajbagh following which a complaint was lodged at PS Rajbagh.According to reports, a senior KAS officer named Abdul Rahim, who was assigned to the position of District Social Welfare Officer in Kathua, noticed a vehicle travelling in the same direction near Chadwal while driving his vehicle with the registration number JK11C-9988 towards Kathua from the Tehsil Social Welfare Officer. The KAS officer recognised some wrongdoing and quickly telephoned SHO Police Station Rajbagh to request that the vehicle be impounded.When the Rajbagh police halted the car as a result, they discovered that its papers were duplicate scans with a duplicate registration. According to the owner of the vehicle, who is from Pulwama (Kashmir), they bought the vehicle from Srinagar 15 days ago. The car’s chassis number was also discovered to be a fake and it matched with another vehicle in Delhi when the duplicate registration number was verified.Upon receiving a written complaint from the original owner of the vehicle with the registration number JK11C-9988, Abdul Rahim, a case was opened at the Rajbagh police station in order to ascertain the truth, identify the responsible party, and apprehend the gang. There are two identically numbered vehicles in J&K. After discovering a duplicate car on National Highway Kathua but it was not in operation, the original owner, Abdul Rahim KAS officer, filed a complaint at Police station Rajbagh. Rajbagh police have so far not confiscated any duplicate vehicles.
