Tourists stuck by a flooded stream in Uttarakhand’s New Tehri rescued

NEW TEHRI: According to officials, some 50 tourists who became stuck after a seasonal stream flooded as a result of heavy rain in this Uttarakhand district have been saved safely.According to Dhanolti Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Lakshmi Raj Chauhan, the visitors became stuck in the Sitapur region, close to Dhanaulti, on Sunday because a temporary bridge over the Maundkhala seasonal stream was damaged as the water level of the stream suddenly rose due to heavy rain in the hills. But police officers and members of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), who raced to the scene right after, managed to save everyone, Chauhan continued. According to him, revenue officers have been instructed to issue public appeals urging people to stay away from bodies of water when it is raining.
