POONCH: Leading Army officials on Friday extended their sincere thanks to the family of commando Havildar Majid Hussain, of Poonch, who gave his life battling terrorists in the Rajouri area. The Kirti Chakra was given posthumously to Havildar Hussain of the Parachute regiment’s 9th battalion (special forces). A army spokesman added that Havildar Hussain’s receipt of the Kirti Chakra is a testament to his extraordinary bravery and that Poonch, Rajouri, and the people of Jammu and Kashmir are all grateful to the valiant commando. He stated that Hussain, a local hero from Poonch, embodied the true essence of a commando with his unshakable dedication to protecting his country.“In the challenging terrain of Poonch and Rajouri, he stood as a formidable force against terror, displaying unparalleled courage and determination in the highest traditions of the Indian Army,” added the spokesperson. The spokesperson stated that the people of Poonch and Rajouri are greatly moved by his supreme sacrifice in the cause of peace, and that the GOC of the 25 Infantry Division, who is representing Northern Command GOC-in-C, and the GOC 16 Corps have extended their sincere appreciation to the family of Havildar Hussain. “Havildar Majid Hussain, the Hero of Poonch, leaves behind an enduring legacy of devotion and heroism. People in his hometown and all throughout the country will always find meaning in his narrative, the spokesperson said.
