JAMMU: In a sustained effort to provide comfortable travel and better services to genuine passengers, the Jammu Division of Northern Railway has intensified ticket checking drives across trains and stations.
The campaign is being carried out under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager Vivek Kumar and the leadership of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal.
During October 2025, ticket checking teams and Chief Ticket Inspectors detected 11,386 cases of ticketless or irregular travel, resulting in a revenue recovery of ₹67 lakh in fines. Officials have also been conducting surprise inspections to curb unauthorized travel and ensure compliance.
Passengers have been advised to always carry valid tickets while traveling.
As part of the ongoing campaign, a special ticket checking drive was conducted during the festive season in October. In the 10 days leading up to October 26, 2025, fines amounting to ₹3.2 million (₹32 lakh) were collected from 2,500 ticketless passengers. This marks a significant increase in passenger revenue during the first festive season since the creation of the Jammu Division earlier this year.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal stated that these drives enhance passenger comfort and safety while also strengthening the financial health of the railway. The revenue, he noted, ultimately supports the development of improved passenger amenities. He also praised the ticket checking staff for their exemplary performance throughout October.
