Terror module busted in Baramulla, 3 LeT terrorists arrested

BARAMULLA : Joint forces from the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police have dismantled a terrorist cell at Uri in the union territory’s Baramulla district, detaining three persons and recovering weapons and ammunition from them. A case has been registered under the UA (P) Act and the Arms Act. “A terrorist cell has been dismantled in Uri Baramulla, and three members of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) organisation have been detained.”The police said that they had recovered weapons and ammunition from them and had filed a case under the UA(P) Act and the Arms Act. Officials claim that during joint patrols and area control near Churunda Uri, the Baramulla Police and Army’s 16 Sikh Light Infantry detected a suspect who was wandering the area. While observing the patrolling party, he attempted to run. But he was subtly taken into custody. He was found to have two grenades, and he was hauled into prison right away. The police then recognised him as Showkat Ali Awan, a Churunda, Uri native. He identified his collaborators as Ahmad Din and Mohammad Sadeeq Khatana, both Churunda residents, during additional interrogation. Following their interrogation, the police seized two grenades, one Chinese pistol, one pistol magazine, and four live rounds from them. According to the authorities, the suspects smuggle guns and ammunition over borders at the direction of Pakistan-based terrorist handlers, who then give the weaponry to LeT terrorists for use in terrorist acts. According to the police, a case was filed in Police Station Uri under the UA(P) Act and the Indian Arms Act, and investigations are ongoing.
