Srinagar, Feb 19: With the exception of the Srinagar-Jammu route, where traffic was moving smoothly, most of the J&K roadways that led out of Kashmir were closed on Monday due to heavy snowfall during the previous 24 hours. According to officials from the traffic department, travel is only allowed on the national highway that runs between Srinagar and Jammu. However, routes to the border towns of Keran and Karnah, Mughal Road, Bandipora-Gurez Road, Sinthan-Kishtwar, and Srinagar-Leh are all closed. Although there was rain in the Valley, over the past 24 hours, there has been a lot of snowfall in higher areas such as Zojila Pass, Baltal, Sonamarg, Pahalgam, Doodhpathri, Gurez, etc.According to reports from the Gulmarg ski resort, there was still a lot of snow falling there this morning. The MeT department predicted rain and snow through February 21. After that, things should get better.
