JAMMU: The Army has stated that there has been no ceasefire violation (CFV) and that the purported gunfire that occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning along the border in the Khour area of the Akhnoor sector was a speculative exchange of fire. “There are a number of media outlets carrying the story of the CFV on the Line of Control (LoC) in the Akhnoor region. It is made clear that there hasn’t been any CFV,” a defence spokesperson stated. He clarified that the firefight is merely hypothetical because of the fog and low vision, which is typical behaviour on forward positions. “The Sector where speculative firing has taken place is primarily the International Border sector and not LoC,” said the spokesperson.
