Jammu, Feb 1: On Thursday morning, new snow fall in high altitude portions of Jammu province, including the cave shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi situated atop the Trikuta hills in Reasi district. According to officials, the Jammu region’s plains were also battered by moderate to light rainfall. There has been recent snowfall in and around Mata Vaishnodevi’s Bhawan. This morning, a layer of snow coated the Trikuta highlands area, they reported. They stated that snow fell on Bhairon Ghati and Himkoti in the Trikuta hills as well as on the winding path that leads to the temple. Hundreds of pilgrims left the Katra base camp this morning, undeterred by the snowstorm, as they continued their journey to the temple.In addition to Vaishno Devi, snow fell on the Mughal Road, the mountains of Kishtwar, Doda, Reasi, Ramban, Kathua, Rajouri, and Poonch. Authorities have asked the public to avoid making needless travel plans and have alerted them to the possibility of landslides and stone explosions near highways. Snow also fell in the hills surrounding the Patnitop hill resort. Rain and gentle breezes heralded the end of more than a month of chilly, foggy conditions in the districts of Jammu and Samba. A MeT official stated, “Rains have ended the extreme cold conditions, providing relief to the residents.” According to officials, there is a forecast for heavy snowfall and rain in the Kishtwar area, which increases the possibility of landslides and interruptions on mountainous and national highways.
