Srinagar, Sept 9: State Investigation Agency (SIA) of Jammu and Kashmir Police has announced a reward of Rs. 10 lakhs for anyone with information that helps identify the terrorists responsible for the killing of eminent lawyer Babar Qadri in 2020.
Two shooters who entered Babar Qadri’s Srinagar home as clients on September 24, 2020, shot and killed the lawyer who frequently took part in TV news debates. Later, a case was opened at Srinagar’s Lal Bazar Police Station.
The matter was turned over to SIA last month.The SIA has now made public notice of a reward for information leading to the capture of the murderers.
According to a notice released by the Chief SIA, “A cash reward of Rs 10,00,000 (Rupees Ten lakhs) is announced for those providing information leading to the arrest of the persons involved in the killing of Senior Advocate of J&K High Court Late Babar Qadri S/O Sh. Mohd Yasin Qadri R/O Zahidpora, Hawal, Srinagar who was killed by terrorists on September 24, 2020 at his residence.” “The informer’s identity shall be kept in the strictest confidence.”
The SIA has stated that anyone with information is welcome to contact them.The Police emphasised that Saqib was also implicated in Qadri’s assassination in August 2021 when security forces shot and killed Abbas Sheikh, the chief commander of The Resistance Front (TRF), a shadow front of Lashkar-e-Taiba, and his deputy Saqib Manzoor.
Three lawyers’ homes and offices were searched by police in August of last year in relation to the murder of Babar Qadri. (Agencies)
