JAMMU:Following the killing of a mobster in nearby Punjab by another gang, a J&K Police Sub-Inspector was suspended on Tuesday, according to officials. Rajesh Dogra, a notorious criminal and “history-sheeter” who was born in the Reasi district and currently resides in Jammu, was killed on March 4 in broad daylight in the Mohali area of Punjab. Sub-Inspector Mushtaq Ahmad of the Sarwal police post has been suspended by SSP Jammu Vinod Kumar due to allegations of incompetence regarding his failure to monitor the gangster. The Sarwal police post in charge and SHO Bakshi Nagar have also been subject to a departmental inquiry. According to the SSP, the situation was concerning because of the law enforcement officers in Jammu who appeared to have been negligent. He said that in spite of the J&K Police Manual’s form number 183 and rule number 703, which outline the required procedures, neither the beat officer nor the SHO Bakshi Nagar Police Station took the proper steps to closely monitor the history-sheeter.
