Mumbai, Dec 16: The BCCI declared on Saturday that senior pacer Mohammed Shami would not play in India’s two-match Test series against South Africa. Shami was cleared by the board’s medical team for the series, but he was still included in the Test squad pending his fitness. Deepak Chahar, an all-rounder with a fast bowl, was also left off the ODI team. “Chahar has notified the BCCI of a family medical emergency, which will prevent him from playing in the forthcoming ODI series. The BCCI statement said, “(Champion) Akash Deep has been named as his replacement by the Men’s Selection Committee.”(Agencies)
