NEW DELHI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to bring up the Government of Union Territories (Amendment) Bill, 2023 in the Rajya Sabha for discussion and eventual passing on Thursday, the day the Parliament meets for the eleventh day of the current Winter Session. The goal of the Government of Union Territories (Amendment) Bill, 2023 is to give women’s seats in the Puducherry Assembly a 33 percent reservation. On Tuesday, the Lok Sabha already passed the legislation. The Home Minister will also introduce the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Second Amendment) Bill, 2023, which aims to reserve 33% of the assembly’s seats for women, according to the agenda that was made public.On Tuesday, the Lok Sabha already passed the legislation. Two appropriation bills, the Appropriation (No. 3) Bill, 2023 and the Appropriation (No. 4) Bill, 2023, will be moved by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The report of the Committee on Welfare of Other Backward Classes on Measures undertaken to secure the representation of OBCs in employment and for their welfare at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) pertaining to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare will be tabled by BJP MPs Rajendra Gehlot and Narayana Koragappa. “Also, measures undertaken to secure the representation of OBCs in employment and for their welfare in Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) and Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL)’ pertaining to the Ministry of Steel,” stated the agenda. In the meanwhile, Lok Sabha adjournment motion was proposed by Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi in order to talk about Wednesday’s security breach in Parliament. According to Gogoi, there are major questions concerning the safety protocols for the new Parliament building in light of this unprecedented incident. “It is unacceptable for a crucial institution of Indian democracy to experience such a security breach. The adjournment notice submitted in the Lok Sabha stated, “I demand that the Union Home Minister addresses the issue promptly and the house takes a comprehensive overview of the situation for the national interest.”
