RAJOURI: In the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, a government school teacher was detained on suspicion of harassing and abusing female students in a sexual manner, according to the police. According to a police official, the accused, Ashraf Qureshi, was employed at the Government Higher Secondary School, Saaj in the Thanamandi subdivision. According to him, a complaint from numerous female pupils at the school alleging sexual abuse and harassment by the teacher led to the registration of a case at the Thanamandi police station under the relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The police received a written complaint against the teacher from the Rajouri Child Welfare Committee (CWC), according to the spokeswoman, who also stated that additional legal action is being taken in the case.
