MENDHAR/JAMMU, Jan 16: Tuesday was the third day that the forest fire in the Balakote and Mendhar districts of Jammu and Kashmir had burned nonstop, resulting in the detonation of many landmines near the Line of Control, according to officials. They claimed that the fire, which started in a forest near the LoC in the Poonch district’s hilly region, is growing. According to the officials, a number of landmines in the Mendhar sector detonated after the forest fire. Locals and members of the forest service and army are working to contain the fire, they said.
