Security tightened after tiffin box-based IED found on Sidhra Narwal highway

JAMMU: An improvised explosive device (IED) resembling tiffin box was discovered on the Sidhra Narwal highway stretch on Saturday evening, prompting increased security in Jammu’s Nagrota. Following the discovery of kg IED near the National Highway yesterday, increased security has been implemented along the route. An attempt to target the National Highway was thwarted by the Jammu and Kashmir Police. The statement from Jammu and Kashmir Police stated, “After searching the area, Tiffin Box-based IED weighing approximately two kilogrammes was found, which has now been taken into possession after successful detonation.” The police had stated that at approximately 5:30 p.m., they were notified of the discovery of suspicious object close to police checkpoint on the Sidhra Narwal highway in Jammu. Following the information, the Dog Squad, Police Component Jammu, and police squad hurried to the location. The police added that an investigation is still ongoing and that case under pertinent sections of the IPC has been filed in this regard.
